Job Description
Are you a dedicated psychologist with a passion for supporting children with disabilities? Do you want to be part of a compassionate team that makes a real impact in the community? If so, we invite you to apply for the position of Psychologist at Kites!
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
Provide evidence-based interventions to support psychological matters related to the child’s disability.
Provide positive behavioural supports to clients, families and caregivers.
Undertake assessments.
Provide an early intervention and preventative approach to promote positive outcomes to clients.
Provide guidance to clients and parents through individual and group programs.
Work collaboratively within the Kites team to ensure a holistic approach.
Provide consultation and advice to service providers in relation to the ongoing client support.
Liaise with and refer to other health professionals and community agencies as required.
Maintain accurate client records on Kites’ Client Management System.
Bring to the attention of the Program Manager issues relating to service delivery.
Supervise students on placement as required.
Contribute to community education programs on behalf of Kites.
Desired Skills and Experience
Essential:
Master of Psychology with current registration with AHPRA.
Knowledge of life span development.
Knowledge of impact of disability on the life of the person with a disability and his/her family.
Experience in the assessment of children.
Experience in implementing psychological interventions.
Counselling skills.
Oral and written communication skills of a professional standard.
Interpersonal skills to establish, maintain, and facilitate professional and team-based relationships in a sensitive manner.
Ability to travel to client appointments and other locations as needed in a timely manner.
Hold or willingness to obtain National Police Clearance, Working with Vulnerable People check (NDIS endorsed) and Valid Tasmanian Driver’s Licence.
Desirable:
Master of Psychology - Clinical, Educational and/or Developmental Psychology.
Experience in working with children.
