Job Description
About the Role:
We're looking for a passionate and dynamic Community Engagement Coordinator to join our Marketing and Fundraising team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for building and nurturing strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including schools, corporate organizations, community centres, and more. You will organise and deliver impactful community engagement activities and events that support our mission, promote services, and drive fundraising efforts.
Working closely with internal teams, including the Program Manager Fundraising, you’ll help shape the strategic direction for community fundraising activities, key events, and initiatives. You will also lead and support a dedicated team of officers, and ensure volunteers are well-supported, trained, and motivated to contribute.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities
Team Leadership
Responsible for line-managing two Community Engagement Officers, ensuring alignment with objectives and industry standards, while providing guidance, support, and mentorship to enhance their effectiveness in community engagement and fundraising efforts.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders to maximize community fundraising and engagement opportunities.
Support individuals and organisations raising funds for Guide Dogs and VisAbility Tasmania
Collaborate with the Program Manager Fundraising Tasmania to create long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships for ongoing community and annual giving commitments.
Community Outreach:
Engage with external stakeholders and audiences to promote Guide Dogs and VisAbility Tasmania and contribute towards the identification of potential donor, community fundraising and service partners.
Work with key internal stakeholders on service partner opportunities, promote where appropriate and ensure that service partner agreements are communicated and progressed to relevant internal stakeholders.
Collaborate with both Community Engagement Officers (North and South) to plan and execute community engagement events and activities.
Partnership Building:
Identify and evaluate new and existing community engagement and fundraising partnerships with organisations and groups to support the organisations community fundraising objectives and targets.
Develop and deliver against new and existing community engagement and fundraising partnership agreements and initiatives to maximise community fundraising opportunities.
Education and Awareness:
Deliver presentations, workshops and information sessions to educate external stakeholders about opportunities to support the services offered by Guide Dogs and VisAbility Tasmania.
Data and Reporting:
Maintain records of interactions and partnerships and regularly report on community engagement activities to the Managers so that these can be shared and actioned with the relevant teams across the organisation
Desired Skills and Experience
Skills and attributes:
• Minimum 5 years proven experience in community fundraising and/or engagement.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent presentation and public speaking skills.
• Results-driven with a focus on expanding the organisation's reach and impact.
• Current drivers’ licence, National Police Clearance, Working with Vulnerable People Check (NDIS endorsed)
