Job Description
Key responsibilities:
In this role, you will deliver person-centred occupational therapy services, helping adult clients build functional independence and access the right supports for their needs.
Contribute to an integrated and seamless service model that reflects best practice in individualised, person-centred therapy delivery.
Monitor and evaluate services and supports to ensure they align with VisAbility’s policies, procedures, standards and contractual obligations.
Undertake clinical assessments of functional independence and develop, implement, manage and review tailored therapy programs and services.
Prescribe and recommend specialised assistive technology, equipment and aids to support client outcomes, where appropriate.
Maintain timely and accurate records, assessments, case plans and service documentation within the Client Management System.
Report any issues affecting service delivery to the Program Manager in a timely manner.
Actively use VisAbility’s Process Mapping System for continuous improvement by providing input, feedback and suggestions.
Support the broader occupational therapy profession through student coaching and mentoring.
Provide clinical supervision as directed.
Undertake other duties as required by the Manager.
Desired Skills and Experience
What you’ll bring
Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy
Current AHPRA registration
At least four years’ professional experience in Occupational Therapy within the disability, community or health sectors
Sound knowledge of current legislation, standards, policies and contemporary practice in disability and aged community care at both state and national levels.
A genuine commitment to person-centred practice, with the ability to translate this approach into meaningful client outcomes.
Highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients, families, colleagues and stakeholders.
Excellent written, verbal and analytical communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and complex submissions.
Confidence in using a range of communication strategies and tools to support client engagement and service delivery
An innovative, solutions-focused approach to service delivery and continuous improvement
A sound understanding of the disability and community sectors, particularly in consumer-directed care in disability and aged care
The ability to travel to client appointments and other locations as required in a timely manner
Bonus points if you also have
Experience supporting people with disability, vision impairment and/or acquired brain injury
An understanding of funding models, particularly the NDIS and My Aged Care.
Demonstrated experience recommending and prescribing assistive technology, equipment and aids
